Exploring the 1960s: An Interdisciplinary Approach
John F. Kennedy was choose the 35th electric chair of the United States. From the moment he decided to run, his candidacy was controversial and some even believe that it may watch been the originator for his assassination. Among many things, if he was elected, he would be the first roman Catholic to be elected president. chair Kennedy confronted this issue during his nomenclature on September 11, 1960. During his speech, he gave the explanation of how he believed that church and state should be separate. During the 1960s, it was a way of life to disfavour a person based on their religious beliefs alone. However, chair Kennedy felt that there should be no one entity, either church or government, will not have accommodate over the other one. To him, this meant that no priest could certify a president what to do and no Protestant clergyman could tell his parishioners how to vote. In other words, Kennedys religion would not affect the decisions he made as president (Kennedy, n.d.).
